Gearing up for HRMAC Summit 2017
It’s a year of twentieth birthdays this year. HR Tech Conference in Las Vegas celebrates its twentieth birthday in October – and so does the HRMAC summit in the same month.
The annual summit from the Human Resource Management Association of Chicago (HRMAC) on Thursday October 19 brings together hundreds of HR and people professionals from across the Chicagoland area for a day of networking, exploring cutting-edge issues in the sector, and sharing best practice.
We’ll be at the summit, and we’re looking forward to seeing some familiar faces for the event’s twentieth birthday; there are some great sessions planned at the event that we can’t wait to hear from.
Firstly, the opening keynote presentation from Margot Lee Shetterly looks like a session not to be missed. Her New York Times bestseller book, ‘Hidden Figures’ tells the true story of the pioneering black female mathematicians at NASA whose calculations helped fuel some of America’s greatest achievements in space.
In her keynote address at the summit, Margot Lee Shetterly will discuss race and gender equality, career advancement, and explore the ways that black women have contributed to American innovation; it looks set to be the perfect thing to kick off the day’s proceedings, and we can’t wait to catch the session that promises to inspire
HRMAC Summit’s closing session also looks like one to make sure you catch at the event; futurist and author Jack Uldrich will be speaking on ‘The big a-ha! How artificial intelligence will transform human resources’. He’ll share insights from his book on the subject, and outline ten trends that will transform the HR and people world of tomorrow.
The timing is pertinent; today, HR teams are moving towards automating a lot of the traditional ways of working, and giving their employees autonomy to do things themselves. This means HR teams are free to focus on people. These companies, or ‘People Companies’ as we call them, are automating transactional processes and leaving their leaders free to focus on people, providing better workforce experiences, and see a faster impact on engagement and productivity as a result.
Also at the summit, delegates will explore that trendy catchphrase ‘executive presence’ – how to recognize when and where their presence is useful, and when it’s not.
Finally, how can technology transform HR? Leaders from across three local businesses will explore this in another session. The is another area we’re passionate about and have spoken on a lot previously; if HR teams can free up their time by automating a lot of admin functions, then they’re free to focus on people and designing great workforce experiences. So, it will be interesting to hear how one business dealt with the ever-growing list of demands being placed on their HR and people team through using technology – and their views on how they looked for successful solutions.
We can’t wait to attend HRMAC’s 2017 summit and celebrate their twentieth anniversary with them. If you’re going, why not come along and visit us at booth 501? We’ll be talking about using technology to design great workforce experiences for your people, and giving demos of our award-winning HR and People System.
We look forward to seeing you there!
