Topping the tech charts: a winning week for Fairsail
Last week was a particularly busy week here at Sage People, and in a really good way. Why? We saw our collective team efforts recognized by industry not once, not twice, but three times. And, while we don’t like to blow our own trumpet too much, we couldn’t resist a quick write-up to mark our award winning week.
Our first triumph saw the Sage People team take home ‘Best Management Team Award’ at The Times Tech Track 100 awards dinner on November 15. It’s an accolade we’re especially proud of not only because we’re passionate about improving workforce experiences for our customers’ employees, but because we also work hard to deliver great employee experiences for our own people. This is a key priority for us, and plays an instrumental part in our continued success.
We were in great company at the awards dinner, with fellow Tech Track 100 companies – we placed 21st among them. The atmosphere was certainly celebratory, and why not? There’s a lot worth celebrating across the tech industry right now.
The following evening, the Sage People team attended the annual Computing UK IT Industry Awards in the hope of taking home the esteemed ‘Cloud Innovation Provider of the Year’ title. With leading brands such as BT and Vivantio also shortlisted in the category, we knew we had strong competition, so when Sage People won, we were all the more thrilled to have our work recognized on such a prestigious platform. Innovation is a key part of our business strategy and will always remain so – it’s what gives us the edge against our competitors and, like our people, has been key to our rapid growth.
Speaking of business growth, the final cherry on last’s week cake came in the form of our highest placement to date on the Deloitte 2016 UK Technology Fast 50. It was our third consecutive year on the list, marking something of a Sage People Fast 50 hat-trick. We placed a not-so-unlucky 13th on the list this year, thanks to three-year revenue growth of 1200%, which saw us double employee headcount to 100 people in 2016 alone, and further develop its global market presence.
It was certainly a remarkable few days for our team last week, and it has been great to see more positive news this week, this time for the UK tech industry as a whole. In the UK, Phillip Hammond’s Autumn Statement pledged an extra £2bn for Research and Development by 2020 “to ensure the next generation of discoveries is made, developed and produced in Britain”, and a further £1bn will be allocated in new finance to “prevent fast growing tech firms from being snapped up by bigger companies, rather than growing to scale.” Both of these investment promises indicate that it’s a really exciting time to be part of the UK tech industry.
Finally, we’d like to acknowledge our customers who continue to support and feed our success. We have truly great customers and we’re very aware that Sage People’s success is really down to you, so thank you. Here’s to a great year and a fantastic team. Look out, 2017!
