Alzheimer Society of Ontario partners with Sage Business Cloud People to revolutionize HR operations

Alzheimer Society of Ontario has selected Sage Business Cloud People, a market leader in HR and People systems, to revolutionize HR operations and deliver greater efficiency to its organization, saving time and reducing ongoing management costs.

By moving to Sage People, the organization will benefit from a simplified cloud-based solution, realizing their vision of a shared services approach, and the consolidation of multiple HR management processes and systems into just one.

As a not for profit organization, Alzheimer Society of Ontario, co-located in Toronto with the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, strives to stay on top of the cutting edge of dementia care.

The organization supports people in the community, promoting research and working towards achieving their vision of a world without Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. In September 2018, the Alzheimer Society of Canada launched the first ever Canadian charter of rights for people with dementia – written by, and for, people living with dementia. The Alzheimer Society uses the Forget Me Not flower as a symbol to represent memory loss, one of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. It is also a reminder to remember people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their caregivers.

As part of an initiative to centralize the delivery of HR and People services for over 100 employees across multiple business units, a new shared services center was formed in 2016.

The three organizations were struggling to provide a seamless experience for their workforces, with manual HR methods, disparate payroll systems, and complex administration processes taking up the HR team’s time – instead of allowing them to serve as a valued business partner to the societies.

Leesa Fernandez, Chief People Officer at the society, explained what drove their choice: “We realized that streamlining and automating HR functions could reduce management time, increase productivity and improve employee engagement that would free up vital resources to better serve the community.”
