How does the system manage vacation carry over to be used within a specific time frame?

In this example the employees are allowed to carry over 5 vacation days but they must be used in 3 months, by the 31st March.

Carry Over Months is a setting on the relevant Absence Accrual Rule for vacation

Maximum Carry Over is a setting in the associated Absence Accrual Rule Seniority.

  • Carry Over Months  The length of the period in months which any carried over amount must be used.  If Carry Over Months is blank, any Carry Over amounts expire at the next Reset Date.   For example, if you set the Carry Over to be 3, the Team Members might be permitted to carry over vacation however they have to be used within 3 months and would expire after 3 months. (i.e. 31st March)
  • Maximum Carry Over  The highest accrued value permitted to be carried over to a new period on the Reset Date.  For example, Team Members might be permitted to carry over no more than 5 vacation days from one vacation year to the next.  Set Maximum Carry Over to 5.
